Police said they found two loaded guns and several narcotics within reach of an 18-month-old girl while executing a search warrant at a New Kensington apartment Friday morning.

New Kensington police charged Cameron Robert Blystone, 22, with endangering the welfare of children, possessing an instrument of crime, unlawful body armor and drug offenses.

According to a criminal complaint, officers from New Kensington and Lower Burrell carried out the search warrant around 8 a.m. at Elmcrest Apartments on Carl Avenue.

Police said Blystone had sold THC wax on two occasions between March and Friday.

Police said no one answered the door when officers knocked and announced themselves. After breaching the apartment door, officers found Blystone inside as well as the child, who was sleeping in a crib in a bedroom.

According to the complaint, Blystone spontaneously said, “I just sold a ‘zip’ of weed, and all this? There is people selling heroin out there.”

The complaint says officers found in plain view a Glock handgun on top of a snake enclosure and an AR-15 style short-barreled rifle in an open closet shelf. Both were loaded with a round in the chamber, and the AR-15 was loaded with “green tip” armor piercing ammunition.

Numerous glass bongs and marijuana products, including loose marijuana, were also in plain view on the living room floor.

Police said all of the items were “easily accessible to the 18-month-old child.”

A set of body armor labeled “Killa Cam” was among the items police seized. Other items seized included a jar containing THC/marijuana wax, a grinder containing marijuana, a bag containing four jars of marijuana wax, five boxes of THC/marijuana vaporizers, and eight empty boxes or containers of THC/marijuana products.

Police released the child to her mother, who was found in a separate apartment in the building.

Blystone was arraigned before New Kensington District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr., who set his bail at $40,000. He was sent to the Westmoreland County jail in Greensburg.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 3, according to court records.
